On Friday, April 21st., the vessel "Ocean Triumph" is scheduled to arrive at Fremantle from Malta. Listed amongst the thousand new settlers for Australia is a party of 27 MalThe following letter has been received by His Grace the tese boys, destined for Catholic Institutions in W.A. These children are the first group of Archbishop from Monsignor J. B. Montini, Substitute Secretary to children to migrate from Malta under the Child Migration Scheme. His Holiness:-

The Holy Father has received the Spiritual Bouquet offered to him by the school children of the Archdiocese of Perth, which you forwarded to him through the kind offices of His Excellency the Apostolic Delegate. It was a source of satisfaction and consolation to the Sovereign Pontiff, amidst the arduous duties of his exalted office, to learn that so many ardent young souls have generously offered prayers and sacrifices to implore light and strength from Almighty God for the Common Father.
His Holiness would request Your Grace to convey to them the expression of his cordial gratitude, and as an affectionate token of his paternal appreciation, he lovingly imparts to Your Grace, to the Diocesan Inspector, and to the teachers and children of, the Archdiocese of Perth his paternal Apostolic Benediction. Gladly availing myself of this occasion to renew to Your Grace the assurance of my cordial esteem and high regard.-I re-

Australia needs more such migrants.
In October, 1948, the Catholic
Episcopal Migration and Welfare Association of Perth opened negotiations with the Maltese Government about the possibility of obtaining child migrants from Malta. The Maltese Government were keenly interested, and intimated that suitable children were available. The matter was then taken up with the Commonwealth and State Governments. Considerable negotiation was necessary, and finally agreements to the satisfaction of all parties were drawn uu. The children were selected by a representative of the Commonwealth Government and a representative of the Catholic Migration Association. Twentyseven children will be arriving on Friday, and a further twentythree when shipping is available. The boys are being escorted by Father Glaea and Brother Pantalleresco, members of the Paulist Order, who are going on to Melbourne. The chaplain on the voyage is Father Emanuel Brincat, who is at present the Archpriest of Zetjun at Malta. He was the parish priest of the City of Senglea, which was the most heavily bombed area. Of his parish, which included some 13,000 inhabitants, only homes for 1,500 were left standing. Father Brincat gave an outstanding example of coolness and courage during the long siege. He used to come out during the bombing and read his Breviary while walking up and down the main street, of which hardly anything had been left standing. He had the honour of conducting His Majesty the King over the ruined parish when the King visited Malta, and he was awarded the M.B.E. for his war services.

A reception will be given to the Maltese children in St. Patrick's Parish Hall, Fremantle. Representatives of the Federal and State Immigration Departments, the Mayor of Fremantle (Sir Frank Gibson), and Rt. Rev. Monsignor Moss (repre- War hero, Father Brincat, conducts Majesty, King George VI., on an inspection of the ruins of his parish. Nine -tenths senting His Grace the Archbis- of the buildings were destroyed in His this, the worst -bombed spot in all Europe. But Father Brincat used to say his Office hop) will attend the function. in the street during air -raids, is now ship's chaplain for the migrants.
