Redemptorist On Monday the Redemptorist Fathers received a cablegram from New Zealand announcing the sudden death of Father McLoughlin in Auckland, while giving a Mission there. Father Edward was the youngest of three brothers who became
Redemptorist Missioners, two of whom are still actively engaged on mission work in Ireland. He was ordained in 1917, and came to Australia a few years He taught Theolafterwards. ogy for some years in the Redemptorist Studendate at Pennant Then he became attachHills. ed successively to the Mission staff of every Redemptorist House in the Province of Australia. In addition to being an eloquent and zealous missioner, he conducted Retreats for the clergy, Brothers and Sisters in almost every diocese of Australia and New Zealand. He was stationed at the Monastery, North Perth, on two occasions-from 1936-38, when he was Director of both Confraternities, the Holy Family and Our Lady of Perpetual Succour and St. Alphonsus, and again, after his return from Ireland in 1939, till his transfer to New Zealand in 1943.
There he since remained on active service, and was found at his post of duty when his Master unexpectedly called, to bestow upon him the reward of the good and faithful servant. R.I.P.
