In the recent Public Service Examinations, the results of which entitle successful candidates for appointments as clerks or cadets in the Commonwealth Public Service, the boys of the Catholic Secondary Schools in this State made a very creditable showing. The examinations are com-
petitive and the boys select the subjects they wish to take from the Leaving Certificate groups. Out of the 79 successful candidates in WA., 46 places were secured by pupils of the Christian Brothers' Colleges, including the first six places in the State. The allocation of honours is as follows Aquinas College, Mt. Henry: 17 places. Christian Brothers' College, St. George's Terrace: 14 places. Christian Brothers' High School, Highgate: 5 places. Christian Brothers' College, Fremantle: 4 places. St. Mary's College, Leederville: 6 places. The first six places in the State were won by Edward Francis Haywood, Arthur Henry Muffatti, Laurence Alfred McGee, Edward Bernard Norris, Denis Michael Cullity, and David St. John Kennedy.
