It will be an informal gathering during which the laity will have an opportunity of meeting and chatting with their Lordships. Official Opening, In St. Mary's Cathedral, on Sunday. May 5, the Centenary Celebrations will open officially with Pontifical Mass at 11 a.m., during which Archbishop Duhig, of Brisbane, will preach the occasional sermon. St. Mary's Cathedral Choir will sing the Mass. Solemn Ye Den= At 7.30 a.m, on the same day a Solemn Te Deum will be sung in St. Mary's Cathedral, and the occasional sermon preached by one of the visiting Bishops. Sisters of Mercy Centenary. On Monday, May 6, at 10 a.m., in St. Mary's Cathedral, the Centenary of the Sisters of Mercy will be honoured by a Pontifical Mass, during which Archbishop Tweedy, of Hobart, will preach the occasional sermon. Arriving with Bishop Brady in January, 1846, the Sisters of Mercy opened their great school in Australia. Since then how fruitful has been their harvest not only in the West but throught Australia!
A choir of 500 children from the schools of the Sisters of Mercy will sing the Mass. Children's Day. On the Subiaco Oval, on Tuesday morning at 10.30 a.m., the children of Catholic schools throughout the State are invited to honour the great event by their presence at Pontifical Mass, and by joining in the singing. This
will be a memorable morning for the children of our Catholic schools. Archbishop Beovich, of Adelaide, will speak to the children during Mass. The Memory of the Dead. On Wednesday, May 10, the memory of the dead will be honoured by a Solemn Requiem Mass in St, Mary's Cathedral at 10 a.m. Our glorious pioneers. Bishops, Priests, Brothers, Sisters and laity will be remembered with gratitude in our hearts as we pray that eternal light may shine upon them ,and may they rest in peace. Amen.
Youth Pageant.. At the Subiaco Oval on Wednesday. May 10, at 8 p.m., there will be a Youth Pageant to bring the festivities. to a triumphal finish. New Horde and Geraldton.
On Friday, May 12, the distinguished visitors will go to New Norcia for the celebration at the Monastery, The Geraldton celebrations will follow, and we hope to publish the details of both at a later date. All the ceremonies from the opening on Sunday, May 5, to Wednesday evening's Youth Pageant will be broadcasted.
