I feel sure that at death, Bishop Gibney and Archbishop Clune felt no fear of the account to be rendered to the Prince of Pastors for that portion of their flock entrusted to the pastoral care of the Oblate Fathers. We also know that our present venerated Archbishop, Most Rev. Dr. Prendiville, fully recognises and deeply appreciates the valued contribution made by the Oblate Fathers to the best interests of the Archdiocese of Perth. Religious Life. Before coming to Australia, the Oblate Fathers knelt before the Altar in their community chapel in Ireland, and there, consecrated themselves to the special service of God by the practice of the sacred vows of Religion, and, thank God, throughout the years at Fremantle, Sorrento, and Geelong, these religious men have maintained with unswerving loyalty the solemn pact made to God and their Order, in the days of youth. By the recitation of the Divine Office in Choir, by community meditation at early morn, by frequent prayer during the course of the day, by their filial devotion to Mary Immaculate, and by their scrupulous fidelity to the prescriptions of their Rule, the Oblate ,40 Fathers have given glory to God, and a shining example of virtue to priests and people.
