The last few men in began to belt out at anything, and raised the total from 6 for 23 to 96 before a closure was applied. McCarthy 6 for the 40 and Curtin 3 for 34 secured wickets. and J. McCurthy opened Brennan 'for B.C.Y.M.S.. and brought up 24 when the latter was caught for 8. Cue C. tin succumbed without scoring. McCarthy and Brennan brought the score to 54 when the former was stumped at 12. Rocci added eight in no time, when his wickets were spreadeagled. F. Cawley joined the captain and they merrily added the score to 92, when the former was caught for a well -made 22. Brennan shortly afterwards followed 1.b.w., for a very careful and well-made 37. There is no doubt about his being now the foremost bat in the Association. Smith and Bourke, with 8 and 5 respectively passed our opponents score when time was called, showing 6 for 102. The game will be continued on Sunday next. A victory seems assured as we will show a comfortable lead on the first innings. The deep regrets of the team go out to Mrs. Shiel and her daughter, oil the loss of their son and brother Jack, whose sudden demise was so unexpected. Jack was the making of a very fine cricketer. On several occasions this season and last, showing his ability with both bat and ball. His many sterling and straight -forward qualities endeared him to all, and he will be greatly missed. R.I.P.
