Aunt Bessy's Corner PHILOMENA WANNE (South Perth). I would like very much to be one of your nieces. I like reading the "Record," and especially the Children's Corner. I attend St. Columba's School, South Perth._ I am_ 11 years old, and I am in the third standard. Out here where I live a lot of wild flowers are coming out ; they look very nice. We have a young kitten ; it is a female. What do you chink would be a nice name for it? We have also a lovely St. Bernard dog. Its name is Leno. I would like to go in for the drawing. ' A very nice little letter, Philomena, and I gladly accept you as a niece. By the way, the feast of your namesake, St. Philomena, was celebrated last Wednesday. She was one of the many martyrs who suffered death rather than give up the faith. You ask me for a name for your kitten. As a compliment to yourself I world suggest PHILOMELA-it is so much like your own. Philomela was the daughter of a King of Athens in Greece, and was changed into a nightingale. Do you think your pussy could ever learn to sing like that sweet bird ? You know, cats are very fond of birds-so fond that they sometimes eat the dear little things. I would like to see your St. Bernard dog, I have read so much about Low they save lives among the snows of the Alps. Do you remember any story of the dogs of St. Bernard? I don't suppose there are any at the Zoo over your way. Why not try the elephant competition either in the drawing or the essay ?-AUNT BESSY.

DENIS COFFEY (N. Fremantle). I am eight years old, and I attend St. Anne's School, and I am in the third standard. We Leave finished our examination. We were examined by Mr. Klein. I think I have passed. We got fairly hard work to do. I have three sisters, but no brothers. 1 like playing football best of all games. We play football nearly every afternoon after school. I am pleased to have yourself and sister Mary on my family roll of honour, Denis, and hope you came off with flying colours from your exam. Since I have last written to you I have made my First Holy Communion on the beautiful Feast of Corpus Christi, and I am making my nine first Fridays with, my brother and sister, and I am sure you think it is a lovely devotion. Our School, that is St. Brigid's, had our Plain and Fancy Press Ball, and we enjoyed ourselves ery ntch. loping you are quite well. The engine and seven triple went off the line. The engine was lying on its side and the trucks were heaped on top of one another.

We had our exam. at school, and I liked our inspector very touch. I hole we have all given him satisfaction. The feast of St. Anne was kept up in St. Anne's Church. Both morning and evening there was a crowded congregation. The singing of the Mass was very nice, as was also an "Ave Maria" sung by Miss Duggan. On the feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Rev. Father Neville enrolled 93 children at St. Anne's School in the Brown Scapular. Sorry your letter lees been delayed, Stella, but better late than never. I hope all my nieces and nephews at St. Anne's will be faithful children of Our Lady of Alt. Carmel. Do you know that your name means " a star?" -AUNT BESSY.

MARY COFFEY (N. Fremantle). We had our examination at St. Anne's. I like the inspector, Mr. Klein, very much. I hope he will examine us next year. I was very sorry when he finished in our room. We were examined in every subject. I think I liked the reading and sums best of all. I also liked dictation and the composition. I hope we all passed. St. Anne's Day was kept up in our Church at N. The engine -driver and fireman had a narrow escape. There were six passengers, but the carriage did not leave the line. On Sunday afternoon I went to see the men putting the engine on to the line. They had a great lot of trouble to get it on. They had two engines to pull it on, and tro'ee a part of one. .Judging by your nice description of the accident, Jack, you should make a good war correspondent. Were you on the train yourself ? I hope my Collie nieces and nephews will send me an invitation to the oeening of your new school? -AUNT BESSY.
JACK KELLY (Noggerupp). This is the first time I have written to you. I hope you will accept me for your nephew. I have one brother and three sisters. Ivy, my eldest sister, is away at the Convent in BusBelton. We are expecting her home soon for her mid -winter holidays. My other sister Elsie goes to school with my brother and me.
