In Christianity it is always the spirit that counts. A man may give a lot of money for charitable purposes, but unless his heart goes with the money the gift is valueless in God's sight. A man may not steal because he is afraid of dicovery and punishment, but he is a thief just the same unless he hates robbery. This is what we call Christian morality,' and it is much higher than what the world calls morality as the Gospel is higher than the law.
