By Bronwen Clune Four deacons were ordained last Friday night in a ceremony at St Mary's Cathedral. Family and friends gathered to see Brandon Crawford, Thi Lam, john Daly and Michael Merrifield ordained into the diaconate by Archbishop Barry Hickey. The Archbishop concelebrated Mass with Bishop Sproxton and 25 priests from the Perth Archdiocese. Archbishop Hickey said that the people of Perth continued to be blessed with a good number of seminarians. We are grateful to God for calling these men from many different places in the community," he said. "We are very privileged that they want to give their lives through their holy orders to serve God and the people of Perth." New deacon John Daly spent eight years prior to entering the seminary working between a job as a field assistant to a diamond operator and volunteering with the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, India.
