Beaconsfield church 'grows'
Chorus —
MANILA: Cardinal Sin has joined the chorus of protest over the acquittal of the military in the Aquino murder. He said the "flagrant disparity" between the court's verdict and the findings of the civilian inquiry "threatens to push our country to the brink of violence and despair". "It seems that a historic opportunity to restore the credibility of government and to satisfy our people's aspirations for truth and justice was lost," he said. Before the trial he said he had told some of the judges to be careful. "Now I am prepared to give them a Christmas gift: copies of a videotape of the Nuremburg trials," said Cardinal Sin. "I'm having the tape copied now. It gives a lesson: The justices should be fair and just in trying to judge, because it is not a question of legal procedure, it is a search for truth." Cardinal Sin said Filipinos "will be very sad" at Ver's acquittal. He said after Aquino's assassination, many Filipinos "went to the hills because they are disgruntled" and joined the anti-government New People's Army. The guerilla group was not necessarily a communist organisation, the cardinal added. "Most of them are there because of their feelings against the president's regime. But they are not all communists.

The church of Christ the King at Beaconsfield is a monument announcing to the world the presence of the Catholic Church, Archbishop Foley said at the blessing of new extensions last Sunday. He called on the people to be prominent in their faith by being a leaven in the community. The extensions have added two bays to the original church opened in 1936. The extension includes a new spectacular facade that highlights a rose window whose

"The pope has said that he wants to meet as many of the Australian people as possible and West Australians could not wish for a better occasion than a late Sunday Afternoon when whole families will be free to attend. "Traffic will not be an impossible factor and television will most likely be able to give extended coverage right through to the country areas," Mons O'Reilly said. A special WA Police liaison group is studying a number of locations to give maximum accessibility for people to see
