"It is important our facilities be geared to the needs of our times and seeing this dual purpose hall being opened in Harvey today is a sign the Harvey school is moving ahead with the times in which we live," Bishop Quinn said. Naming the hall Mercy Hall, Bishop Quinn said it would be a permanent reminder of the work by the Sisters of Mercy who staffed St Anne's school when it was founded 50 years ago.

In his homily Bishop Quinn pointed out many areas in which the two communions have the same beliefs and practices. He said ecumenism was in the hands of the laity Who in many areas are ahead of the hierarchy in putting it into practice. Father Leon Russell delivered the homily (see page 2).
0 Also during the service, a Catholic and Anglican representative from the following groups commented briefly on their work and offered an appropriate prayer of unity: Centrecare; Charismatic Prayer Movement: Principals of Catholic College and Cathedral Grammar School; C,atechetics and Minister Fraternal; Seafarers; Women's Worship, Youth Work. Six young people of both churches performed a liturgical dance. Bishop Jamieson dismissed the congregation and gave a final blessing, and the gathering moved on to the cathedral lawns for supper.
