received only seven entries compared with 16 for the inaugural award last year. None of last year's unsuccessful applicants applied this year, although conditions clearly stated that they were entitled to do so. Also, practically no enquiries for assistance were received by any of the five committee members. The committee awarded a total of $6350 out of the $7500 available from interest on the money donated to Archbishop Goody on his retirement and which he devoted to further training for the laity.
