Applicants will receive a form on which to list their skills — typing, office equipment skills, driving experience, present employment commitments, time available etc.
From these applications a task force will be built up. The public can make suggestions on what they want Pope John Paul to do on his visit to WA next year but more importantly they can immediately offer their voluntary skills and services. The papal tour directors in the different states intend that there will be no debt outstanding at the end of the tour, Monsignor O'Reilly, the WA state director said after his visit to Melbourne. "Monsignor Walsh, the national director, has noted that there is to be no remaining debt so that is the cost of the tour as far as he is concerned," Monsignor O'Reilly said. Because the visit is to "all" Australians and not just the Catholics, there will be approaches to corporate sponsors to cover some of the paid positions that will be required, he said.

The hank has already loaned $50,000 interest free to help the initial organisation. All monies received will be credited with interest. • The leading motor manufacturers will he providing the loan of cars to assist the organisers.
