The announcement is in line with approval by Pope John Paul II granting diocesan bishops an indult to allow celebration of Mass according to the rite given in the 1962 edition of Missale Romanum. Bishop Quinn urged that prayer, on-going group reflection and study, and the Services of the Word, made up the route all should follow to enable the two denominations to travel together on converging paths.
