REASONS FOR REAKDOWNS
St Mary's investiture
NAIROBI: Marriage break-ups and infidelity result when couples fail to realise that no human being can totally satisfy the thirst for love, an expert in marital affairs said at the Eucharistic Congress. Dr Michele Guy was talking on "Fidelity, the hall mark of love," during a seminar at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre. She said many men and women yielded to temptation and pushed their partners aside asking themselves: -What a shame I did not meet him sooner . . ." and others, "this is the right partner for me . . Dr Guy said often, many couples indulging in infidelity didn't realise that the same process would recur as not one single person was capable of fully satisfying another's desires. She said problems arose in marriages mainly due to childish illusions carried into adulthood where a man or a woman idealised the partner and failed to identify before marriage the existing shortcomings. Quoting from the from Father Bible, Dr Guy said couPAT CUNNINGHAM ples had to avoid "this INOWINANOw endless pursuit of a mythical ideal partner. We must leave father and mother and our idealised but childish Parishioners in the vision of love." Great Southern have Stressing to many people

fidelity could be downright impossible and sometimes painful, Dr Guy said couples had to seek love from Jesus Christ as it was the only love that could be fully satisfying. She said fidelity had come to be considered totally impossible and even the Bible wasn't afraid to discuss it as being so. Dr Guy further quoted the gospel according to St John where Jesus asked those who hadn't sinned to stone an adulterous woman and where the apostles protested violently to Christ, that it were better for one to remain unmarried if one couldn't reject one's wife.
made a petition seeking a new move in ecumenical Communion. The petition reads: "It is the desire and petition of the Roman Catholic and Anglican lay members of the ARCIC Discussion Groups held in this town in 1985 that the authorities of their two Churches will take whatever steps are necessary to permit communicant members of both congregations in good standing to avail themselves of the receiving the Holy Communion from the hands of the priests of the other of dee two Churches •
