There are not two churches, the Church of the Eucharist and the Church of Christian commitment, Archbishop Foley told the Christ the King gathering in Supreme Court Gardens last Sunday night. - Going to the eucharist and service of our fellow human beings are not two distinct things; they are one and the same," he said in his homily, after carrying the Blessed Sacrament in solemn procession to the altar. -There is not one church gathered around Christ and another dispersed throughout the world to preach the gospel .
Only one church "There is only one church called to share every thing with the Lord. with His death and ressurection, His struggle and His Victory.
Archbishop Foley was commenting on the Sunday gospel which referred to the last judgement which is a "call to serve the
unfortunate members of society. the sick and the prisoners, to be a service to the Lord. "It is impossible to remain united to Christ and remain aloof from others who are thirsty. foreigners, prisoners or the sick. -When we receive holy communion we affirm that our personal struggle against evil and injustice is one with the struggle that led Jesus to His death.

Cash rolls into office
In the past four weeks over S82,000 for Ethiopian Relief has been received and forwarded b y the Perth Catholic Church Office. Since a national combined churches' appeal w as launched several months ago the Perth Catholic doss ass channeled $127,011111 le the national total of $2.2 million sent so far. Further donations will be received at the Victoria Avenue Office and f orwarded immediately. Church representatives s tress reports of the terrible suffering in Ethiopia were made available to the Australian media as early as June when the combined churches' took up the victims' cause. However, it was not until October that it became a local media issae. Organisers of the combined churches' effort. which includes Australian Catholic Relief have criticised television reports suggesting a recent World Vision shipment of food was the "first" to leave Australia. Large amounts of food a nd other emergency relief have been moving from Australia.
