RELIEF AID IS ON THE The Churches of Australia have already committed $3 million in aid to help relieve the tragic situation in Ethiopia. This aid has been made possible by the support given to the Combined Churches African Drought Appeal (which is remaining open throughout A ustralia and donations can be channelled through any of the Churches). Food aid has also been given through the church agencies by the Australian Government. The destination of this aid has been checked by the churches and much of it is being used in Wollo province of Ethiopia, so dramatically featured on TV this week. The 3,500 tonnes of wheat given by the Australian Government through Australian Catholic Relief is being transported into the towns of Korem, Alamatta and Kobbo. The cost of this operation alone is $180,000.
