Bunbury diocese has become the clear leader among Australian dioceses with the ordination this week, in four ceremonies, of six permanent deacons.

Bishop Quinn has ordained three deacons already in Bunbury and Kojonup and the ordinations will continue at Albany on Friday and Mandurah on Sunday. Five of the men are married and the sixth a widower and all will work part time in their respective parishes as clergy of the Bunbury diocese. This first -ever group intake of permanent deacons in Australia brings the national total to 12. There are t wo permanent deacons in Perth archdiocese, Reverend David O'Brien and Reverend Thomas Sefton. Adelaide has one deacon, D arwin one and Townsville two. At Bunbury last Sunday
