injustice and human tension is the cry of Pope John Paul in the message for the 17th World Day of Peace for which he has chosen the theme: "From a new heart, peace is born".

VATICAN CITY — A record of Pope John Paul's poetry set to jazz music is expected to be in stores soon. The long-play record, a joint project of the Vatican publishing house and a German record producer, matches 10 poems with soft orchestral compositions by two Italian jazz musicians. The poems are sung in Italian by Paola Orlandi.
Looking at the tensions which currently imprison the world, the Holy Father says although the tension between East and West monopolises attention, it must not overshadow the tension existing between North and S outh, between developed countries and those locked in FOR NEW underdevelopment.
