They are silent because abortion is not an issue of everyday life and because they refuse to buy into what they call a moral issue, or to be judgemental ,according to Dr Melvyn Wall. Dr Wall, now senior pediatrician at New Zealand's Taranaki base hospital was educated in England and
came to WA in 1967 on a Commonwealth scholarship to study medicine a t the University of WA and later in Dublin and New Zealand. As a Jew, Dr Wall does not mince words when he compares the silence of t he medical profession today to what happened during the Nazi holocaust of Jewish victims in Germany. "Doctors became criminal and were allowed to become criminal by the laws of the Nazi State. "The minority of doctors performed the deeds but the majority of the profession were complicit because they were well aware of what was going on."
Monsignor McCrann said the word "integrity" summed up the gospel parable of the good and faithful servant who the master finds at his household employment. The emphasis is obviously on the good and faithful service he has performed.
