from BARBARA MEAD of The Catholic Leader, Brisbane A mother and her two daughters have taken their finals vows, in Brisbane, as Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. They are Sister Mary Shirley, Sister Mary Barbara and Sister Mary Narelle. T hey made their final vows at a Mass celebrated by Bishop John Gerry in the Villa Maria Chapel, St Paul's Terrace, where the Sisters of Perpetual Adoration conduct a home for the aged. Bishop Gerry called them "a unique and blessed trio." The three see their profession as the start of a new life, begun with the strength of the f amily and private lives, built through eight years' training at Villa Maria and now to be lived out in the adoration of Christ. "We were born into love, reared in love, lived in love. Now our love can be deepened in a very special way," said Sister Mary Narelle. Sister Mary Shirley, mother of Sisters Mary Barbara and Mary Narelle, said they see themselves as "family, friends, individuals, who are Sisters of Perpetual A doration." "Mum is our best friend as well as our mother, but as Sisters we are individuals." said Sister Mary Narelle. "Our first concern is the perpetual adoration of Our Lord. To support the Congregation, we care f or the aged and make altar breads." Then, with joy: "I don't know why everybody outside isn't inside." Her mother and sister nodded, smiling agreement. "Our new life is the answer to our prayers," Sister Mary Narelle went on. "Look," she said, and proudly displayed the narrow silver band on her wedding finger. "I've been fiddling with this constantly — I can't stop touching it. "Every girl wants to be married, dreams of it. Women don't feel fulfilled without marriage.

ROME: As Italian police hunt for a kidnapped Vatican schoolgirl missing since June 22 a new interest has awakened in the 1981 attempted assassination of Pope John Paul. The pope asked 30,000 people in St Peter's Square last Sunday to pray for the girl's safe return and pledged himself to do everything possible.

Emanuela, a daughter of a Vatican messenger, and a citizen of Vatican City called her parents to say she would be late home from a music lesson because of heavy traffic. Italian police sources said Emanuela may have been abducted by a man claiming to offer her a job distributing flyers for a fashion show. The teenager told her fellow students at the music school on June 22 she had been approached by a man in his 40s who offered her 375.000 lire (about $250) for two hours of work, police said. Emanuela was quoted by her classmates as having told the man, "Im too young to decide. I have to ask my parents." Although the pope in his Sunday angelus talk did not make any direct appeal t o the kidnappers, he showed the matter is worrying him.
