WELLINGTON — The New Zealand bishops have removed the Mass obligation for three holy days over the next 12 months because they fall either before or after another obligating day. When Days of Obligation fall on either a Saturday or Monday; many of our people face a difficulty in fulfilling the obligation, the bishops said. "This is due to the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays being, on these occasions, either preceded or followed by another obligatory day. T wo 5th-year students left this week for a nine-week s tay at the Bethania Hospital in Sialkot, Pakistan, which six Sisters of St John of God are now staffing. The students will work under Sister Isobel Moran who is a doctor. Dr Michael Hagan has volunteered for three years duty there and two medical students went on placelast year; just recently two former nurses at St.

Myra Brown of Melville, who is a Uniting Church member, was educated at Methodist Ladies College and spent 12 months as a Rotary exchange student in Germany before taking up medicine. She saw an advertisement in the AMA bulletin and Mr Stokes was glad to have the opportunity to place her for her vacation period.
