STRIKERS AND THE CHURCH WARSAW (NC): The Catholic Church has expressed understanding for stiking Polish workers "who are trying to improve their lot materially and in other areas such as respect for human rights".
With over 130 Savings Centres throughout Western Australia, we're near you. But no other building society comes near us.
An official communique from the office of Cardinal Wyszynski also asked the strikers to exercise wisdom and prudence. Bishop Kaczmarek of Gdansk has told the workers that prolonged stoppages and possible disturbances, or the shedding of brotherly love are contrary to the good of society. Bishop Kacmarek has established pastoral services for the strikers, including the administration of the sacraments and Sunday Mass. Strikers can be seen kneeling at confession beside priests seated in the open air. "If they are believers, they have every right to invoke the Virgin Mary the pope and God, "said the official communique. CONTINUED P.2)
Mathematics went on stage at St. Brigid's Ladies' College, Lesmurdie, with the presentation of the play The King and(i). In the play the complex numbers battle the real numbers and there are attempts to find the square roots of negative numbers. The main roles are played by (from left) Patricia Lazzara, Catherine Nelson, Maree Anastas, Louise Emmott and Donna Wright. The Year -9 girls are all members of the computer studies class taught by Miss Aida Rossi.

They intend to maker epresentations t ot he Australian and Chilean government seeking assurance for the well being oft he peoplestill detained and for information about the reasons for the imprisonment. Sister Anna was arrested allegedly for picking up a political leaflet on the ground
near a theatre where a meeting was being held. She was released after weekend detention but her teenage companions are still being detained. Originally from Ballarat, she has been working wit hu nderprivilegedt een agers in Santiago for the past three years. There was widespread indifference to religious values and a thoroughly materialistic p hilosophy of life, the Apostolic ProNuncio, Archbishop Barbarito said in an address to the conference.
