Among those honoured in the Queen's birthday list were Father James Nestor (pictured at left), Sister Philomena Earle (right) both of whom were made Members of the Order of the British Empire, and Sister Ignatius Murnone, who recieved the British Empire Medal. Father JAMES NESTOR, M.B.E., arrived in Australia shortly after his ordination in 1956. After 'serving as assistant priest at Wembley, he embarked on studies for an honours degree in education at the W.A. University and Teachers' College. He already possessed an honours degree in arts 7rom the Irish National University.

He started work in the field of Catholic education in 1961, being assistant to Monsignor James Bourke. In 1968, he succeeded Monsignor Bourke as archdiocesan Director of Catholic Education and in 1971, he became chairman of the newly formed W.A. Catholic Education Commission, the first such administrative body to be formed in

Australia. He was appointed to the senate of the University of -W.A. in 1972 in succession to Father E. J. Stormon, S.J., and is now in his second term.
