PARENT GROUP'S ANNUAL MEETING The Twenty-Second Annual General Meeting of the W.A. Parents and Friends Federation was held last Sunday at the Santa Maria College hall.

The gathering was addressed by Father John Prendiville, S.J., who explained the importance of the Catholic Pastoral Institute to Catholic and State schools. Archbishop Goody attended the conference lunch and afterwards addressed the delegates. He commended the work of the federation. Referring to the importance of providing religious education also for children in government schools, the archbishop ured parents of children at those schools to join their local P and C organisations. The Federal Minister for Education, Senator

Carrick, was represented by Mr. Ian Viner, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs. Mr. Viner elaborated on Senator Carrick's recent statement indicating among other points that funds to be allocated for the coming year would be two per cent at least more than those distributed in the 1976 period. In other business sessions, motions urged the federation to take a stand on pornography, especially by supporting the Festival of Light. Mr. Warren Pickering was re-elected president of the P and F Federation; Mr. Lloyd Greenwood was elected secretary-trasurer. 4P
