I'Another new Church opened Schools funds • Standing impressively in front of the new St. John Vianney Church at Kambalda is a cross in welded steel made in Kambalda.

Yet another church was opened in the archdiocese last weekend when Archbishop Goody travelled to Kambalda to bless the new c hurch of St. John Vianney. The new building took over. four months to complete and the total c ost for everything, including furnishings and landscaping was $35,000. Constructed of brick and .steel with a metal

roof, the building measures fifty by forty feet, and contains 230 separate seats. The interior is carpeted throughout in red sandstone colour and is air-conditioned for the

summer conditions. The new building is linked to the presbytery and the former weekday chapel in the presbytery has been converted into a sacristy. Furniture in the sanctuary is in jarrah. A feature of the church is the baptismal font, s4 the base of which is cons structed of polished drill cores that support a beaten copper bowl. The font was made by Mr. Geoff Loftus-Hill. of Kambalda. The opening of the church was attended by 320 people including many visitors from Perth, including - the former parish priest, Father Daniel Foley.
