visit to
LAST WEEKEND, His Grace, Archbishop Goody, made a pastoral visit to the parish of Moora. This was significant as the first visit to one of the parishes formerly part of the Abbey Nullius of New Norcia. The other parishes will be visited after Easter. The parishes were passed to the Archdiocese of Perth so that the Benedictine Abbey could more satisfactorily apply itself to its monastic development. S uch a transfer fol lows the normal pattern that, after a missionary foundation has become firmly established, it generally passes into a local diocesan arrangement. The first function of the visit was a reception of the Archbishop by the Moora Shire Council, at which shire president, Mr. D. Crane, made an address of welcome. Also present were the Anglican and Methodist clergy and several leading Catholics. In the parish, the Archbishop was received by Monsignor James Cameron, who has just completed 20 years as parish priest of Moora.
