Reunion Charter With Anglicans Suggested POPE PAUL VI issued what might prove to be a charter of reunion between the Roman Catholic and Anglican Churches. He said at the canonisation of the 40 English and Welsh martyrs, who died for their faith during the 16th and 17th centuries, that the devotion of the martyrs toward their nation "assures us that no offense to the honour and sovereignty of a great country such as England will be involved on the day of unity of faith and of Christian life is restored, God willing."

This painting, entitled "Pope Paul VI" is by West Australian artist, Mr. Frank Pash. Painted originally on the spur of the moment, it depicts a troubled Pope in a troubled era. The turbulent Sea of Galilee in the style of Salvador Dali evokes the memory of Peter in distress. Even then, as now, Christ was near. The surging spume of the waves conveys the impression of a long-haired Christus, relevant to modern times. The artist has presented this painting and proceeds from the production of the same to The Record for charity. The Record has nominated St. Vincent's Hospital Guildford, Catherine McAuley Centre, Wembley, and Christian Brothers' Pre-Vocational School at Broome as the works of charity to be considered in the distribution of the proceeds. Copies are available through The Record at—Framed $15; Unframed S10. They would make an excellent Christmas gift or commemorative painting of the Pope's Australian Visit, 1970.
