ANONYMOUS DONOR COMES TO Tilt RESCUE; SISTERS DECIDE TO GO AHEAD

W ork on the second section of the Little Sisters of the Poor Homes for the A ged in Kalgoorlie wil l go on as planned — thanks to an $80,000 contribution by on anonymous donor. This was revealed by His Grace, the Archbishop, at the opening and blessing of the first phase of the Home last Sunday. About 800 people witnessed the ceremony. The Archbishop said the Sisters had decided only a few days before to go on with the building of a $120,000 26-bed nursing home and an administration block as planned. And they had only $1,000 in hand when they made up their minds. The donation will ensure an early start on the project.

Second Time This is the second time the Little Sisters have received a sizeable contribution from an anonymous donor in their quest to make life better for the frail aged. The first was a bequest of $100,000 from a Sydney benefactor. Like the latest gesture, it came at a critical time, for though the estimate of the first section was $500,000, the lowest tender received was $950,000. With the donation and Other generous contributions from the Federal Government, which contributed two-thirds of the cost of furnishing the home ,and the State Lotteries Commission the Other third, the Sisters went ahead.
