EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM TO BE STUDIED ON NATION WIDE BASIS N.C.E.C. CALLS FOR CLOSE STUDY The first stage of what is probably the biggest survey yet taken of the Catholic education system in Australia should be completed by the end of the month. I t will include a projection of the needs of C athol ic schools throughout Australia over the next five years, cover finance, staff and accommodation problems and needs. The survey is to be undertaken at the request of the Australian Council of Education which comprises the Federal Education and Science Minister as chairman and the six State Education Ministers. This comes in the wake of the National Catholic Education Commission's five-day inaugural meeting held in Canberra last week. A statement released after the meeting said the commission had adopted a report recommending: • A study in depth of the aims of Catholic education.
