Changes
Mr. John Harman, M.L.A., Labor member for Maylands -since last year, marches briskly up the steps of Parliament House. Last week he presented the Petition against the Termination of Pregnancy Bill on behalf of over 29,000 West Australians of widely differing political and religious affiliations. Interviewed by "The Record" on Tuesday, Mr. Harman had this to say about the bill: "It should be defeated because it would provide the opportunity for abortions to be carried out in far greater numbers, and w ould make this State the slaughter pen of the C ommonwealth. The people promoting the Bill h ave not taken into account the already strained medical and hospital facilities in this State. "I do not believe that abortion should be an e xpediency, but rather that social services generally, and social activity specifically should be improved greatly."
