TO YOUTH POPE PAUL VI in a message addressed principally to the youth of the world on the occasion of the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, Sunday,- April 20, applauds their "absolute and authentiq sense of values" and throws down the challenge of the priestly vocation in the modern world. 'WE APPEAL to you, the youth, who today more than ever can and should , hear the voice of Christ calling you, pointing out to you the regions of the world that are close to ripeness, ready for the harvest, the regions where priests, missionaries, sisters, given over to the contemplative life and the active apostolate are so badly needed and yet are waiting. THE POPE went on to say that the youth of our time were better disposed and more suited to understand the call of vocation now, because they are more generous and given to authentic values. They want deeds and not mere words. They want to give personal service. They want to build a better world.
Courses on the Ovulation Method of family planning are now being held regularly in the lecture theatre of St. John of God Hospital, Subiaco, under the sponsorship of the Majellan Groups and the Catholic Marriage Guidance Bureau. They are well attended, as "The Record' photographer found when he visited one recently. The speaker on this occasion was Dr. P. 0 Nara. These courses, a f ollow-on from Dr. John Billings' notable series of lectures last year, are designed to give information and practical help to married people who wish to plan their family.
