No. 3308. PERTH, THURSDAY, AUGUST 24, 1967

COMPLETE CHANGE-OVER FOR CURIA PATRICK RILEY writes from VATICAN CITY.

POPE PAUL VI, fulfilling a four-year-old promise, has reformed the central government of the Church. Time-worn channels of authority in the Roman Curia will be given modern pace and direction by major changes he has ordered:

R epresentatives of most denominations engaged in study and discussion of selected passages of the Bible during Bible Week had a special meeting last Monday. Pictured are Major G. H. Fisher, Divisional Youth Secretary of the Salvation Army, Bishop Myles McKeon, Right Reverend M. Owen, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church and Most Reverend G. Appleton, Anglican Archbishop of Perth. The passage discussed at the meeting of Church leaders was read from an historic family bible brought to Western Australia in 1830. It was brought out by Mrs. Stephen Parker, grandmother of Sir Henry Stephen Parker 0.C., the first Australian born Chief Justice of Western Australia. Mrs. Stephen Parker came out on the Hooghly and settled at York. The Bible, which measures 17" x 12" x 4" was loaned by the Battye Library for this occasion. Reports indicate that the Bible Groups have been mostly well attended.
