The new All Saints' Centre has certairdy proved itself a haven of spirituality for the workers of the City.
Last Friday it completed its first month of mid-day Masses and a record number of 3,400 people have attended the Holy Sacri ice with 1,800 of them receiving Holy Communion. This is indeed an auspicious beginning for a grand and glorious effort at bringing Our Divine Lord to the heart of our growing City. The constant visits of the public has made its thresh hold the busiest in Perth. The roster of adorers has been beyond all expectation. Hats are now lifted in reverence to the Christ who dwells within. As from Monday, January 14, the Blessed 'Sacrament will he reserved in the building, as a caretaker will live on the premises. The doors will open at 8 a.m. so that early morning workers can pay a quick visit to the Divine Master to a ;ic a blessing on their day.
Time-Table The Masses, as heretofore, will be as follows:— Mon.,. Wed. and Friday. 1.10 p.m. Tues. and Thurs. 12.10 p.m. A server for the 12.10 Mass has been arranged, but nothing definite has been arranged for the 1.10 Mass. If anyone can guarantee being present for the 1.10 Mass,

He is the first man of religion to be so designated since the tradition was established in 1927. In selecting Pope John for the 36th year, Time credited the Pontiff with "creating history in a way that few men were able to do in 1962."

Official Opening T he . building will be officially opened by His Grace the Archbishop when all renovations to halls and front of the building are completed. The date has not yet been set. When anyone is near the Centre, he should not pass by the way without making a visit. The faithful should bring their non-Catholic friends along, and teach them the habit of saying a small prayer by cultivating the habit themselves. Character is made by habits — make them good ones.

Archbishop N.Z. People Adopt Ten Returns Infants From Rome His Grace the Archbishop returned to Perth on Tuesday a fternoon. Expressing his views on the Coun:il His Grace said that— Everyone was pleased with the progress made at the opening session of the 2nd Vatican Council. All feel that it would be a landmark in t' history of the Church. It was a most moving experience to assemble day after day with the other Bishops of every race and colour (representing 134 nations) gathered around the same altar at the Tomb of St. Peter and sin-_'H the Creed together in perfect of faith. The Bishops from every corn, of the earth had the opportunity getting to know each other and each others' problems, and discussilfreely the great problems facinl the world in this period of histor:The Council has been adjourneti until next September. In the meantime the various Commissions will be busily engaged in preparing further material in the light of the discussions which have already taken place. Observers from other Churches have been impressed by the atmosphpere of freedom and vigour in which the Council discussions were conducted. The Australian Bishops had the privilege of an audience with the Holy Father and we shall never forget the beautiful simplicity and great wisdom with which he spoke to us for three quarters of an hour. sending his special blessing to the people of our Country.
Wellington: Ten Chinese baby girls started 1963 by flying more than 5.000 miles to a new life in a new country. The 10, all orphans ranging in age from 16 months to three years, flew from Hong Kong to join 10 new families here. The new fathers of the well-
travelled orphans include a doctor, 2 lawyers, an engineer. a public accountant., two post office clerks, an army sergeant and two government clerks. A 2i-year-old placed with one of the post office clerks found seven new brothers and sisters waiting for her. The Hong Kong office of Catholic Relief Services—NCWC acting for this city's St. Vincent de Paul Society, selected the babies from Hong Kong Catholic orphanages. The c- . Vincent de Paul Society arranged to place the orphans here through the local Catholic Social Services and the Wellington department of Education.
