Since 1932 Australian and New Zealand Redemptorists have been labouring in the Philippines, where they now have three foundations, Manila, Lipa and Legaspi. Their great Novena Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour at Manila, where 80,000 flock each Wednesday to attend the devotions, is known throughout the world, but the Fathers' principal work is in the remote barrio regions, where they are continually engaged in giving missions. The circumstances in which they labour there bear a striking resemblance to those in which St. Alphonsus and the first Redemptorists gave missions in Naples over 200

Despite Generosity, Dwellingup
Appeal Must Be Continued the recent disastrous bushfire at Dwellingup the people of Western Australia have been most generous to the many appeals made to assist the rehabilitation of those unfortunate enough to lose all. SINCE
Many of the fire victims are still in a position of insecurity as finance is almost impossible for rebuilding and some appeals, although generously responded to, have had to be shared with residents of other centres which have since been ravaged by fire, cyclone or flood. Realising the necessity of immediate relief for the people of this town, the Metropolitan Branch of the Catholic Men's League has decided to keep the fund for Dwellingup Fire Victims open until at least April 4. The many people have been so generous to this appeal are assured that donations have been placed to the best advantage, and those that have not been acknowledged will receive a letter of thanks soon. Donations may be sent to the Secretary, Metropolitan' Branch Catholic Men's League, 190 Walcott Street, Mount Lawley.
Sister M. Patrick arrived from Eire to join that heroic sextet and it is interesting to note they were the first postulants to enter Bunbury Convent of Mercy. Later they were followed by two other sisters Sister M. Augustine and Sister M. Alacoque the latter being a member of the present Dardanup Community. Another sister Mother M. Berchmans is a member of the Mercy Community, Castletownbere, Cork, Eire. While blessed with a versatile ability she was above all a prayerful religious. Never was her spirit of p.'ayer more exemplified than during the years of failing health which preTo those ceded her death. who knew here intimately Sister M. Joseph's love for the Holy Mass was a lively inspiration fruitful and source of edification. She has left behind her a memory of unselfish devotion, born of a natural ability combined with a burning zeal for God's glory and the good of souls. May we trust she is already in possession of the Vision Splendid for which her soul has yearned through the long years of her apostolic labours. On Fliclay morning the remains were removed to the Convent Chapel, Victoria Square and a representative congregation of every section of the community filled the Convent Chapel when a Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated by Rt. Rev. Monpreparasignor Hogan tory to the final obsequies. The singing was beautifully rendered by the Sisters' Choir the sombre cadences of the Mass vibrating through the silence of a tense gathering. At 11 a.m. the funeral cortege moved off from the Convent gates and the last rites were performed by Rt. Rev. Monsignor Hogan in the Karrakatta Cemetery where the mortal remains of Sister M. Joseph were laid to rest among the pioneer Sisters who blazed the trail of religious education in the West. RIP.
