Chinese Reds Murder 33 Trappists PEIPING, China, Nov. 29-(NC).-Requiem Mass. according to the Trappist ritual, was celebrated in the Pei tang Cathedral here for the repose of the souls of 33 Trappist monks who died at the hands of Chinese Communists from August, 1947, to May, 1948. All 33 victims were members ef the Monastery of Our Lady of Consolation, at Yangkiaping, 85 miles west of here. The monastery was sacked and burned by Communists on August 28 last year. Of the 75 monks at Yangkiaping when it was seized by the Reds, six were executed at Pan P'u Esun, Chahar, in late January, and 27 died of maltreatment or illness in squalid mountain prisons. A funeral service was also held here upon receipt of news confirming the death in Red hands of Brothers Basil Yuan, John Capistrano Tien, Damien Huang. and John Marie Mias.
