Archbishop Hughes had previously contributed 5,000 Egyptian pounds (over 20,000 dollars) to aid. the refugees. This aid was extended to Archbishbp Gustavo Testa, _apostolic Delegate to Palestine, and President of the Catholic Relief Committee for Palestine for distribution where it is needed, Archbishop Hughes' con_ tribution was made possible through a gift of 25,000 dollars from American Catholics, and through a collection taken up in Catholic churches of all rites in Egypt.
