II. LegionApostolate. Isnotthisveritableromance?Just considertheeffect ofthisnewforce,if settoworkeverywhere.Theseapostolicbandsaresettingtheexampleof anoblelifeandare graduallyleavening thegeneralcommunitywiththeirspirit. Thesuccessfulworkingofthesocial machinedemands,likeanyothermachine,theharmoniousco-operationof itscomponentparts.Eachpart,that istheindividualcitizen,mustdoexactlywhatitisintendedtodo,and withtheleastpossibleamountoffriction.Ifeachofthesedoesnotrender completeservice,thenwasteentersin withawholetrainofcalamitousconsequences.Repairisimpossible,asit isinfinitelydifficulttodetectthedegreeortheoriginofthetrouble; hencetheremedy,whichmustbe adopted,istoemploymoreforceto lubricatewithmoremoney.This remedystillfurtherimpairstheidea ofserviceorspontaneousco-operation, sothatthereisprogressivefailure.
