The Fremantle Town Hall was packed on Wednesday, June 20, on the' occasion of the third annual ball held by the Ex -Students of St. Joseph's Convent. The hall was tastefully decorated with flags and bunting, kindloaned and erected by the staff of the Naval Depot. Immediately afterwards His Grace r«-eived sixteen debutantes. who were preceded by two little flower girls, and The girls presented by Mrs. Farrell. lo,)ked charming in their graceful white frocks, all made of the newest and while fashionable material, most touches of silver relieved the severity. The flower girls were dressed alike in white "Kate Greenaway- frocks, with silver lame flower trimmings and head bands; they carried baskets of white roses, while the posies of the debutantes were of tiny pale pink roes. Before the presentation, Miss Tangney presented Mrs. Farrell with a bouquet o f old gold roses. During the evening an exhibition of modern dancing was given by Miss Vera Stewart and Mr. Wally Willcox, who are ever ready to assist us with their talents. In all ex-student affairs Miss Stewart is an invaluable asset, and we hereby thank her for her loyalty and co-operation. Miss Doreen D'Arcy's orchestra provided the music, and did a great deal to make the evening the great success it undoubtedly was. Among those present were: The" District Naval Officer. Lieutenant Flatten (representing the Naval Department) and Mrs. Flatten, Major Meredith (representing the 5th. Military District) the Mayor. Mr. F. E. On Thursday, June 21, a Children's Ball was held by the same committee, and nearly seven hundred were present. The Sisters desire to thank all those who assisted in any way to make the ball a success. St. Joseph's has come to be the Port's foremost social event, and it is a matter for congratulation that all sections of the community were represented at the ball and all were unanimous in votinc it the best ever.
