eet Chen, aged 5. Sadly, this beautiful little Chinese girl is HIV-positive. AIDS has swept across China leaving victims like Chen abandoned, cast out of society and ostracised. In March, The Record's Mark Reidy and Robert Hiini returned to China in the footsteps of Jamie O'Brien and Derek Boylen to investigate the remarkable work caring for lepers and victims of HIV-AIDS begun by pioneering Jesuit Fr Luis Ruiz SJ and his helpers. They expected to find people embittered by suffering. To their surprise, they found a people of hope, thanks to the work of the legendary Jesuit and 0 his Chinese co-workers.
