Four years. Filled with 720 school days, 33 classes, five dances, two state championships — countless memories… all wrapped into one goodbye. But how do I say goodbye to the best moments of my life?
Hoban — Thank you. Thank you for teaching me who I am. How to laugh, cry, and love. Thank you for walking with me through the best times of my life, good and bad. Thank you for giving me the angels I now call my best friends and the saints who were my teachers. Thank you for being my second family. I’m saying thank you, but never goodbye. Because once a knight, always a knight.

Bordenkircher, Catherine <bordenkircherc@hoban.org> to classof2026@hoban.org

I state with utter dismay that the investigation (see attached) sparked on March 25, 2026, has been discontinued. Despite our efforts to recover the young man’s identity, all leads have proved insufficient for fruitful evidence. Various factors have severely hindered the progression of our investigation, including Abigail Zackasee’s jests in times of panic and Alexander L. Radel’s ludicrous accusations that the investigated subject is James (Jimmy) David Bordenkircher ‘24, former Boys Varsity Volleyball player. It was not.
These hindrances have impeded the investigation’s progression, and unfortunately its lifespan has expired. This is primarily due to the class of 2026’s upcoming commencement ceremony, taking with it numerous individuals integral to the analysis and research process. This includes myself, sending an estimated 12 emails regarding the topic within a five day period; such adamant communication was met with evident vexation, but my colleagues and I assure you of their necessity. Perchance.
One attachment

With a heavy heart, I must resign from my position within the investigation. We understand any frustrations regarding the situation’s sudden stagnation, and reciprocate those concerns tenfold. I apologize for any distress stemming from this issue, but not that much because it needed to be addressed. I request that any further questions be directed to my superiors Gemma Alexander (alexanderg@ hoban.org), or theology teacher Jared Topp (toppj@hoban.org).

#1. The Great Wolf-Dog Mystery
If you recall, we went on lockdown at the beginning of the year. Everyone was curious as to what happened, and it turned out it was a wolf-dog. As it roamed halls and classrooms, students excitingly collected videos of it. It truly was an “only at Hoban memory.”
#2. Summa Cum Laude Celebration
Celebrating our Hoban knights and their academic excellence has always been a joy, and it’s even better knowing how hard students worked to get there. The medals and awards bring a charged camaraderie amongst grade levels.
#3. Golden Dome, Take Me Home
The song “Arlington Road” is more than just a tune made up by the two-man band of Mr. T.K. Griffith and Mr. Rob Yanko — it’s a melody that all Hoban students know and will carry with them. Maybe one day, it’ll finally drop on Spotify and Apple Music to keep the spirit alive.
#4. Mr. Yanko’s Human Map (and Mr. Yanko in general)
If you took APUSH or AP Euro, you know the one and only Mr. Yanko. One of the best teachers at Hoban, we will always remember his live map of the 13 colonies and unmatched passion for Rocky Balboa.
#5. Holy Cross Hoops
Whether it was the back-andforth game, the uncalled fouling, or the refereeing done by Mr. Moundros and Mr. Lucey, Holy Cross Hoops is one of the best traditions Hoban has. Maybe one year, the students will finally take down Mr. Clem and his troubadours.
#6. FNL and Mo Bamba
Friday Night Lights will always be the biggest school spirit event in high school, but when it’s against an archrival, the game takes on new meaning. This year, the student section really embodied a fighting attitude as “Mo Bamba” (the clean version) was played on repeat for four hours against Walsh Jesuit.
#7. School Dances
From finding the perfect dress to rushing to find a group or date, school dances always elevated the stress of school to level 100. At least when you finally got to the dance part, it was a giant mosh pit where no shins or toes were safe.
#8. Senior Lock in
The tradition of lock in will remain one of my favorite memories as I finally got a school sleepover (shoutout 24 hour challenges on YouTube) and got to decorate the school head-totoe in posters and streamers. It’s a different experience to be at the school for 48 hours.
#9. The Day the Lights Went Out
After a long month of school and everyone begging for a day off, it was finally granted as the power suddenly went off and wouldn’t come back on. Teachers and students waited all of first period until driving students were finally dismissed and a herd of teenagers rushed out of the building.
#10. Full School Weeks
At Hoban, it is rare to have a full week of school. Between holidays, late starts, and holy days, there’s a lot of school to miss. We’ve been spoiled by the schedule, and it has been one of my best memories here.
Thank you for the memories, Hoban. Stay top ten.
‘Goodbye

Paige Smith • 7 Songs, about 27 minutes
It’s strange how 4 years can feel both endless and impossibly short. One minute I was a freshman trying to find my classes in a sea of people, and now I’m a Senior writing my last article here at Hoban. This school is more than schedules and classrooms. It’s where I met my best friends, had the best high school teenage experience, and made memories for a lifetime. I feel an immense feeling of gratitude for all the people I’ve met and helped me on my journey these amazing 4 years. I want to thank my family who have allowed me to go to Hoban and have the wonderful experience I did, I love you all so much. I want to thank my beautiful and lovely gal pals who’ve made my high school experience fun, joyful, full of laughs and love. Thank you to all my amazing teachers and staff members who I’ve had and haven’t had but made meaningful connections with. Thank you for supporting and challenging me in the classroom and out. Here are some of my favorite nostalgic and sentimental songs that encapsulate the feelings of a bittersweet goodbye.

Old Days (feat. Kesha) Macklemore I’ll Always Remember You Hannah Montana
BY JESS KREJSA
Coming from a public school, I had no clue what Hoban was or how much it would impact my life. Now reflecting back, I can confidently say choosing Hoban was one of the best decisions I have ever made. What truly makes Hoban special is hidden within the amazing students and teachers that fill the halls.
As a freshman, I inherited numerous encouraging and supportive teachers. One of the first teachers I remember is Mrs. Kostko. Being the only freshman in my geometry class, I was beyond nervous. However, she took me under her wing and reassured me that I would be okay. I have been blessed to have her for three out of my four
high school math classes. From freshmen to senior year, Mrs. Kostko has been there, whether I was struggling in class or just needed a friendly face in the halls. She’s encouraged me and guided me through it all.
Another experience that has been impactful to me was my trip to Gettysburg. During the trip, I was given the chance to grow closer to teachers like Mr. Deal and Dr. Anderson, who truly embody what it means to be a Hoban teacher. Not only are they passionate about teaching, but they also care deeply about each and every student. For one, Dr. Anderson constantly shines light on life’s unlimited possibilities, often saying, “I don’t know what I’m going to

be when I grow up.” Mr. Deal has also played many roles in my high school experience from being my Spes leader to my economics teacher and most importantly someone I can turn to. Mr. Deal is one of those people who notices when you are down and offers you a place to talk freely. Ultimately, these teachers have helped shape me into who I am today.
What sets Hoban apart from other schools is that these qualities are not just limited to a few teachers, they are the standard. Throughout high school I’ve been fortunate enough to be surrounded by people who genuinely care and want to see me succeed. That’s why if I had the chance to do it all over again, I would choose Hoban every time.
BY GEMMA ALEXANDER
When my mom first suggested Archbishop Hoban High School as the solution to my eighth grade self’s ever stressing contemplation over choosing a high school, I was hesitant. Four years later, as graduation approaches, I realize I will forever be grateful that she pushed me to explore what Hoban had to offer. As the saying goes, “mother knows best.”
People often say that high school is one of the most formative periods of a person’s life. Since I have yet to experience life beyond these years, I cannot fully confirm that idea. However, I can confidently say that my time at Hoban has transformed me in ways my freshman self could have never imagined.
Growing up in a primarily rural community limited my exposure to many of the opportunities and perspectives the world has to offer. Because of that, I came to appreciate Hoban even more. Looking back on the timid freshman who was dropped off under the Golden Dome for the first time, I could have never predicted who
I would become. While life is unpredictable for everyone, Hoban’s rigorous academics, diverse community, countless organizations and clubs, and the unwavering support of its staff and alumni challenged me to grow beyond my comfort zone.
More importantly, Hoban taught me to recognize my own potential. It showed me not only the magnitude of the opportunities that exist in the world, but also the importance of taking initiative and working toward my goals. The confidence and ambition I now carry with me were shaped within the walls of the castle.
Most importantly, though, I owe so much of my success to the people around me: my teachers, classmates, and closest friends. One of Hoban’s greatest strengths is its familial culture, and I was fortunate enough to find that family here. The balance between academic excellence and personal connection is what makes Hoban so special. Whether it was laughing with my best friends during Mr. McCoy’s study hall or taking a trip to Gettysburg with Dr. Anderson, Mr. Deal, and my very best friends, those moments made all the
difference. They reminded me that success is not achieved alone.
As I say goodbye to Hoban, I do so with gratitude for the memories, lessons, and people that shaped me into the person I am today.

Step 1: Foundation
The foundation serves as the base of my everyday look. The base of my experience at Hoban was the amazing people who provided me with comfort and stability throughout my years at Hoban. Spending eight hours a day at school made me feel like I lived at school and visited home, comforting teachers like Amy Zeller, Jason Deal, and Hannah Minks made my classes something to look forward to.
Step 2: Concealer
Concealer is used to correct any blemishes or spots on the face. At the beginning of my freshman year I struggled with my school work but was blessed to have the ASC as my corrector. ASC Intervention Specialists Monica Rodriguez, Nick Gonzalez, and the Hoban tutors were basically heaven sent. They corrected any flaws I had with studying habits and guided me through actually understanding my work.
Step 3: Mascara
Mascara is used to enhance and define lashes. Over my years at Hoban I have perfected the art of doing my mascara. Through
trial and error I figured out the perfect application. Similarly I had to master completing all my work and excelling in school. Being a huge procrastinator made my days clumpy and forced me into taking my time to apply a productive schedule to my days.
Step 4: Blush
Blush is used to add rosiness to the cheeks. Although I took time to apply color to my face everyday, Hoban also brought it out naturally. The daily compliments on my hair always made me blush, making me love my natural hair and enjoy styling it everyday. The positive feedback from teachers complimenting my hard work were my favorite compliments. Hearing them speak sweetly about me to my mother at parent-teacher conferences reminded me not to be so hard on myself and enjoy my success in academics.
Step 5: Highlighter
Highlighter is used to brighten and add glow. The highlight of my time at Hoban has got to be the daily time I spent laughing with friends, more specifically, juniors Chloe Mijalkovic, Savannah Curto,

and senior Brooklyn Blair, who I’m sad I only got to truly know my senior year, but grateful to have experienced finally finding people who get all my social media references and never made me apologize for being myself. It truly means the world to me that after four years at Hoban I was blessed with three amazing people who helped me embrace my laughing problem. My Anatomy and Pre-Calculus classes were always filled with giggles that brightened my days.
Step 6: Lipgloss
Lipgloss is to add shine and color to lips. Although fun, lipgloss does not last long,
oddly similar to the motivation to do my school work. Having to reapply my lip combo throughout the day reflected what it was like having to constantly remind myself to prioritize studying. My commitment to keeping up with my homework kept my grades shiny.
Final Step: Setting spray
Setting spray is used to lock in and extend makeup wear. My final step is reminiscing about my time at Hoban, looking back at a process that shaped me. As the nostalgia sets it, I will make sure the lessons learned and the education I received extend to last for the rest of my life.

- Catherine Perrow
As you finish up your last bit of high school, I want you to take a moment to reflect — reflect on the amazing days, the difficult days, the days you kept pushing forward, and even the days you felt like giving up. Every moment has been part of your journey.
Now bring yourself to the present. Soon, you will walk across that stage, and all of those memories will become part of the story that brought you here. No matter where life takes you after you leave the castle, remember that this is only the beginning. High school is not your final destination — it is a stepping stone on your path to greatness.
Be proud of how far you have come, and never stop believing in how far you can go.
Best wishes, Ms. Rahieem
