On September 17th, 1993, Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Colorado, and the Arapaho Nation from the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming began a relationship that promoted awareness to the co-existence of two very diverse cultures. The “Arapahoe Warrior” signifies a common ground shared between Arapahoe High School and the Arapaho Tribe. By working together within the boundaries of respect to our cultures, we have set precedence in our communities providing a positive solution for our future in the midst of mascot controversy.
The “Arapahoe Warrior” and the history of the Arapaho Tribal Nation are deeply embedded in Colorado. The Arapaho Nation‘s survival and plight is recognized through the endorsement of the ”Arapahoe Warrior”. The original version of the “Arapahoe Warrior” logo is the design of Wilbur Antelope, a Northern Arapaho Artist. For the relationship to continue it must be nurtured by everyone involved, especially the adults. The future facing our young people is determined by today‘s behaviors, actions, and attitudes displayed by adults. Cooperative efforts are not always easy, but as adults we know “nothing of value is ever earned easily.”

In 1963 Arapahoe High School was an unfinished building. Baseball fielded its first team in 1964, even while students were still housed at Newton Junior High. Its first class would not graduate until 1965, and yet it was a start of a tradition. Our Warrior Mascot symbolizes the brave, conquering, and inspirational spirit that we hope baseball reflects. Available records indicate that the first head coach was Phillip Zamora. Throughout all the years since 1964 there have been many changes; in players, coaches and of course society, but the game still remains. Players and fans come together in emerald cathedrals and renew its rituals; the quiet air of baseball, batting and infield practice, pitchers warming up in the bullpens, coaches exchanging lineups, and finally the Warriors take the field and the batter walks to the plate…. In those moments we can recapture the purity of wondering whether something good can happen and then proving that it can. In 2017 Head Coach James Dollaghan and his players take their place in the splendid tradition of Arapahoe Baseball. Seek the TRUTH of baseball. Find it and it is yours for a lifetime!

Arapahoe H.S. has a deep tradition dating back to 1964. It is a tradition I am proud to continue and to uphold as the Coach of this prestigious program. Backed by a tremendous administration, led by our Principal Mrs. Natalie Pramenko and a veteran Athletic Director, Mr. Pat McCabe, as well as the dedicated teachers inside the classroom, the unwavering support of parents and the countless hours they provide volunteering for the program, the generous contribution of sponsors and the deeply vested involvement of the community, as well the strongest alumni group in the state, Arapahoe Baseball's future looks bright.
"We work hard, we play hard and we keep the game fun" has been my coaching philosophy since I began coaching in 1992. I truly believe that in order for kids to compete for you, they have to love coming to the yard. That's not always as easy as it sounds because there is a fine line between having fun and competing....and losing is never fun. Our student/athletes will strive to understand that line. It first starts in the classroom where they are held to a higher standard. Grades are of the utmost importance as an Arapahoe Warrior, because that is why they are here. Our student/athletes will work to model the proper behavior and set the example for other students in the classroom.
Understanding that philosophy on the field requires us to take the approach of "no one can out hustle us!" Being an Arapahoe Warrior and having the privilege to wear the A, is something that is not taken lightly. Each practice is structured to meet the demands of today's athlete, stressing the importance of handling pressure situations but also having to deal with the adversity of failure. This is a program which focuses on doing the little things well; understanding and developing a high baseball IQ, through rigorous spring and summer schedules, working hard to develop a work ethic that is second to none and maintaining a top notch facility that visitors envy. "Pitch by pitch, out by out and inning by inning", will create the result we're seeking.

Welcome to the Spring 2017 Arapahoe High School Baseball season! What a transitional year it has been!
We want to welcome our new coach, Jim Dollaghan, as well as all the assistant coaches! Jim has built a great staff and we look forward to a great season! It is with great pride that we introduce to you the players and coaches for our 2017 campaign.
Our four teams are comprised of 63 of the best baseball players at AHS and we all look forward to a productive and successful season.
We would like to take a moment to thank all of our volunteers and supporters. Our organization cannot run and be as successful as we have been without all of these people. Coach Dollaghan is a Colorado native, born the youngest of 7 kids, 5 sisters and 1 brother. His father Art, who passed away in 2013, was a well-known and respected Parochial league pitcher here in Denver. His Mother, Nancy is living in Broomfield and is looking forward to seeing the Warriors play. She is an avid Rockies fan and is usually planning a spring break trip to Arizona to take in a couple of games.
Jim married the love of his life Diana, also a teacher, in July of 2002. They have 2 kids, Addison soon to be 13 who attends Powell Middle School, and Matthew who is 10 and is currently at Franklin Elementary. Both kids are involved in extra-curricular activities. Both are strong students who enjoy going to school and can't wait to get to Arapahoe.
Coach Dollaghan played basketball for 1 year and baseball for 3 years at Colorado Mesa University (formerly Mesa State) from 1986-1991. He was cut from the baseball program his first 2 years but eventually made the program his 3rd year in which he was red-shirted. He primarily played the outfield and played every position on the field except for short stop and catcher at one point of his career.
In the summer of 1992, coach traveled to Cody, Wyoming and accepted his first coaching job as the Legion B coach. Coach Dollaghan found his passion to coach in Cody. After applying for the head coaching position at his high school alma mater, Northglenn, he was not selected but accepted the JV coaching job, which began his coaching career in Colorado. In 1994, he accepted the head coaching position at Green Mountain H.S. in Lakewood and was there for 4 seasons. The years following, he was an assistant at Thornton as well as Legacy High Schools.
After stepping away from coaching to focus on Dollaghan Construction LLC., he eventually was reunited with his college pitching coach Joe White, the head coach at ThunderRidge H.S and was his JV coach for 4 seasons. He stepped away from baseball in 2009 to accept the head softball position at ThunderRidge which he led for 7 years but eventually his love for baseball was too strong.
Coach Dollaghan is very proud to have this opportunity to be the head coach of such a wonderful school with a storied tradition.
Coach White is a proud Colorado native, and Arapahoe alumni. He spent time playing in college at Neosho CC, Arapahoe CC, and Northern Colorado while studying Special Education. Arm injuries deeply hampered, and then ultimately ended his playing career. At that point he started coaching. He started coaching legion ball at Arapahoe when he was 21. Since then most of his 15 years coaching have been at ThunderRidge HS, with a 3 year stint at Littleton HS included in there. Coach White has been a varsity pitching coach for 7 now going on 8 years. His favorite thing about coaching is developing players, especially ones that have a desire to play at the next level. He is a very proud father of his 5 year old son Joshua. In his free time he enjoy splaying with his son, watching sports, and studying the game of baseball. Go Warriors!
Nick White
Coach Diz was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He attended La Cueva High School where he was a three-year letterman and a state champion. After high school, he attended Dodge City Community College in Kansas and made it to the Junior College Super Regionals as a sophomore. After two years in junior college, he transferred to Post University in Waterbury, Connecticut where he continued to play baseball while pursuing a degree in Sports Management. Coach Diz has now lived in Denver for four years. He coached Arapahoe in the summer of 2016 and is currently working for a fitness startup company, RcoupFitness.
Coach Scoglio was born in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1982. He just retired from Lockheed Martin after 35 years. He was a baseball player in high school and played 3rd base. After graduating college, he continued to play softball for the next 20 years. He has coached in the past for his daughter and niece. Coach Scoglio enjoys working with the Arapahoe students and has been very excited to be the official score keeper for the Varsity team! He is an avid golfer and enjoys spending his time with the baseball team and being on the golf course.
Coach Bond played high school baseball in Texas and Wyoming. He walked on at Texas Tech University his freshmen year, played for one year, and decided to hang up the cleats. He graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Education and a minor in Business. He taught high school Social Studies for six years and then moved into sales/marketing positions with companies here in Denver. Later on when his son became interested in playing baseball, he coached youth baseball here in Arapahoe County, coaching in the AYL and his own club competitive team for 5 years. Additionally, he has coached high school baseball at Littleton High, Thomas Jefferson, Heritage, and now Arapahoe High School. He and his wife Bonnie live in Highlands Ranch, and his two children are graduates of the Littleton Public Schools. His daughter Katie graduated from Arapahoe High and his son Caleb at Littleton High school. He is employed at Christian Living Communities in Sales/Marketing. While not coaching he loves to play golf, particular mountain golf, and volunteers his time with service related activities through the church he attends.
Coach Dorchinez was born and raised in Denver Colorado. He moved to the Englewood area and attended Cherry Creek High School and graduated in 2010. He then attended Luna community college in Las Vegas, New Mexico., eventually transferring in 2013 to Adams State University where he continued to play baseball as a short stop. Coach Dorchinez was blessed to be a part of an inaugural year for Adams State University who was reintroducing a baseball program to the school after 36 years without a team. He graduated in 2016 with a Bachelors of Science in Business. He is currently doing mouth to mouth sales for Amway, playing independent (semi-pro) baseball over the summer and Uber driving part time. He has been a private baseball hitting instructor for 4 years as

Coach Lockyer is a Colorado Native. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a BA in Mathematics. He has been teaching since 1993. This is his first year coaching at Arapahoe. He loves baseball and interacting with students in a different context than Math. When he's not coaching, Coach Lockyer loves hiking and backpacking in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.
Coach Grant was born in Denver and grew up in Highlands Ranch, Colorado He graduated from Mountain Vista High School in 2011 and attended Hastings College on an academic scholarship with an opportunity to extend his baseball career. He graduated Hastings College in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Then, he went to Metropolitan State University of Denver and graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation. Michael is currently working towards becoming an Air Traffic Controller. When Coach Grant is not playing, coaching or watching baseball, he umpires the game instead and has been for twelve years. The fact is he simply lives baseball. He also enjoys what nature has to offer, including thunderstorms and he enjoys watching fighter jets do incredible things in the air.
Coach Trotter was born in New Orleans. In 1989 he graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School. As a freshman he was named most outstanding student. Coach attended Westminster College and graduated with a BA in English. He attended DU and graduated with a Masters in Education. Trotter has coached baseball since 2001. As a coach he loves interacting with kids on a daily basis and appreciates their positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for baseball. Off the field, Coach Trotter enjoys hunting, fishing, skiing and mountain biking.
Che Buckmelter is a Colorado Native and graduated from AHS in 1994. He has been coaching at Arapahoe since 2000. Coach Che is married to Nikki Buckmelter and has a little girl named Baylie. He enjoys golfing and fishing. He likes fishing with Coach Trotter whenever he is invited.
