On behalf of the people of Hawaiʻi, I extend a warm aloha to Toastmasters International District 49, its leadership, members and guests who are gathered for the District 49 annual conference in Honolulu. This year’s theme, Cultivating Growth with Aloha , encapsulates the enduring spirit of this conference to celebrate growth, connection and leadership. I am especially honored to recognize and congratulate the honorable John Waiheʻe III, the fourth elected governor of our state, who is the recipient of the Toastmasters Communications and Leadership Award. As a Native Hawaiian, his administration fostered the Hawaiian Renaissance – Hawaiian empowerment, educational reform and ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi as one of the two official languages currently used in the state. His legacy remains a powerful source of inspiration, continuing to flourish in future generations.

I also want to acknowledge District 49’s Director Lynn Araki-Regan DTM, Program Quality Director Jan Cerizo DTM and Club Growth Director Kevin Doyle DTM PID. District 49 has been honored with the coveted Toastmasters Smedley Distinguished award, which recognizes clubs for outstanding membership growth. I extend my congratulations to District 49 for being recognized as number one in the U.S. in growth and top three in the world. This distinction marks the first time that District 49 has reached this milestone in its 71-year Toastmaster history in the State of Hawaiʻi.

I extend best wishes to District 49 for inspiring all who strive to not only improve their public speaking, presentation and leadership skills, but also stimulate their personal growth.

Meetings are open to all via Zoom! Our club provides a friendly and safe learning environment for mastering Robert's Rules of Order. Toastmasters also provides practical education to become better leaders and public speakers. Although not a requirement, many members of Aloha Parliamentarians are in leadership roles at other clubs and District 49. Practicing parliamentary procedure benefits the members' other clubs and the district in carrying out business in an orderly way. Robert's Rules of Order is the standard for conducting business at all Toastmasters meetings.
