On the following pages are excerpts of my conversations about ZT Magnanimus with some of the world’s great breeders … 7 ▪ ZT MAGNANIMUS ▪ WORLD

My personal connection to ZT Magnanimus starts a long time ago — back in the mid-1960s. My father, Ed Brinkert, and I would make pilgrimages to Gainey Arabians in Owatonna, Minnesota, several times a year to see the horses and new foals. My father bred mares to both Gamaar and Gay Rouge with great success, and over the years my father and I incorporated Gamaar, whose dam Gay-Rose (Ferzon x Gali-Rose) we both loved, into our breeding programs. To this day, many of my mares carry Gamaar blood. I owned the mare Echos Love Song, who was linebred to Gamaar through her sire, Aladdinn Echo (*Aladdinn x Gamaara by Gamaar), and her dam Endless Love by Gamaar. Aladdinn Echo is best known for being the sire of Echo Magnifficoo. In 1996, I purchased a package of breedings to Magnum Psyche before he won U.S. National Champion Yearling Colt. The following year I bred him to Echos Love Song. The resulting foal was a gorgeous colt, AB Magnum, who was shown by Bob Boggs as a yearling, winning Region 10 Champion Yearling Colt and U.S. National Top Ten Yearling Colt. As a two-yearold he was Reserve Champion Two-Year-Old Colt at Scottsdale and caught the attention of the renowned breeder Count Federico ZichyThyssen of Argentina, who imported him to his farm in Argentina. AB Magnum soon became a leading sire of champions in South America. I first saw him as a yearling. He was in a group of 30+ yearlings and he stood out; he was unique — different — extraordinary. I asked Count Federico to ship him to the U.S. immediately. I saw him as a star; a horse that would win. I showed him in the U.S. and he won. I showed him in Europe, and he won. And after all of the wins all over the world, Magnanimus became really important; he started siring amazing foals. Years after he returned to Argentina he was once again reunited with me — this time to add to his already growing immortal status. And just as he did as a show horse, Magnanimus delivered for me and for everyone. He sired progeny that will influence the future. — Michael Byatt, New Ulm, Texas

Yesterday, we had a filly by EKS Alihandro out of a ZT Magnanimus daughter who is out of a Shakfantasy daughter. This filly has an incredible small face and big eyes — really out-of-this-world spectacular! Magnanimus is working well with different pedigrees like Alihandro, who has Marwan, Bey Shah, and Padron blood. This filly is typical of what ZT Magnanimus is siring — hooky, long necks, more muscle, and extreme faces. Among very important attributes we are missing in a lot of our horses today are great eyes and ears. ZT Magnanimus is giving this to his foals. My two ZT Magnanimus sons, Alfabia Aragon and Alfabia Babilon, are also siring very nice tight ears and big eyes. This year we had a filly from Alfabia Aragon, who has the most exotic face. Last year also we had a very nice full sister. It was not easy for me to get access to ZT Magnanimus over the years but I had the opportunity to buy some ZT Magnanimus daughters from Zichy-Thyssen Arabians. I typically only breed to my own stallions and I knew that Magnanimus daughters

were what I needed. This year, I have one Magnanimus daughter bred to Kahil Al Shaqab (Marwan Al Shaqab x OFW Mishaahl), and another to my Egyptian colt Sabeh Al Salhia (Ansata Nile Echo x Mareeka). I always had a feeling that ZT Magnanimus himself was a very nice horse, but the feeling now is that he is siring something different. I think he will make big improvements in the breed. One of my favorite horses in the world was *El Shaklan. I got to stay with him the last couple of months before he died. I was 15 days on the Zichy-Thyssen farm in Argentina, where *El Shaklan was free and walking around. I was waking up in the morning and he was standing in front of the door. It was very touching. I think ZT Magnanimus is the most important bridge to continue the legacy of *El Shaklan. We are starting now to advertise our new colt by ZT Magnanimus, ZT Magnofantasy. He has one of the most exclusive pedigrees. The special filly I had yesterday is the full sister to Magnofantasy. He comes 10 ▪ ZT MAGNANIMUS ▪ WORLD

When I first saw ZT Magnanimus at Federico Zichy-Thyssen’s farm, I fell completely in love with him and would have loved to have been able to buy him. He is one of the most beautiful and typey stallions I have ever seen, the true Arabian. These wonderful qualities are so necessary in the Arabian horse and which we must be very careful not to lose. Thanks to his owner, I am lucky to have breedings to him, and already have wonderful babies, four of which are being prepared for shows. from a line that is Shakfantasy out of a straight Egyptian mare, so he has more of an Egyptian look, more exotic in the face, tall, with long legs. And he is siring this. It is a unique pedigree because it has double *El Shaklan and straight Egyptian on the bottom line and of course ZT Magnanimus on top. I think this pedigree is working well with a lot of different bloodlines. Magnofantasy has only six or eight foals right now and most of them are absolutely spectacular. All the foals are from different bloodlines. I’m very positive we will have all of our mares except our ZT Magnanimus daughters bred to Magnofantasy this year. I really believe in him — another ZT Magnanimus son who is also a good sire. Not many stallions sire other breeding stallions. This is truly a unique quality. This family is working both in terms of stallions and mares. With four or five ZT Magnanimus daughters, I believe Linjawi Arabians could have a breeding program that will be unique. I saw ZT Magnanimus for the first time at the 2004 show in Menton, where he was named Mediterranean Champion Colt. His huge eyes, long neck, good body, and overall refinement impressed me very much. I managed to lease him, but he only stayed at Ses Planes for a few months. Then Count Zichy-Thyssen needed him back. I love the horses in his pedigree. I know most of his beautiful ancestors and he has wonderful Spanish bloodlines that I feel very comfortable with. Last year I saw him at Michael Byatt Arabians and I thought he had matured into a very good and beautiful stallion. In fact, I leased from Alfabia Arabians in Italy, one of his sons, Alfabia Babilon (x ZT Ludjelite), who possesses many of the qualities of his sire. His first foals will be born at Ses Planes in October 2014. At the beginning of the year I also imported two ZT Magnanimus daughters from Argentina, because I really believe in these bloodlines and these females will complement my breeding program. There are few stallions who can make an indelible mark in Arabian history. It is generally by what they leave behind: a war hero legend, a memorable story, an historic showring victory, or by creating unforgettable offspring. All Arabian aficionados know the handful of names of these historically elite stallions. Magnanimus has the ability to be named among that elite group who will leave behind unforgettable offspring. I am thankful that he has been discovered and brought into the light for the Arabian horse world to enjoy. I will most certainly use him in my breeding program and hope to have some resulting daughters and even better … an outstanding son! For most breeders there is one horse that inspires them to endure, to be the best breeder and person they can be. For Osman and Yousef Linjawi that horse is Magnanimus. Fortunately for the Linjawis, the horse that they chose and will base their program on is also admired and cherished by many! The first Magnanimus offspring that we saw in person was at Scottsdale in the collecting ring — ZT Magrumi was simply captivating. Everyone at the in-gate stopped to stare at her! (She went on to first-place honors in the International class and Top Three in the Championship.) Subsequent Magnanimus foals had the same effect on me. It was then I knew that Yousef was onto something big! Being a great breeder is like putting together a complicated puzzle. Yousef Linjawi, in a relatively short time, has organized the pieces and has a very clear plan for completing the picture. Part of the Linjawis’ strategy is to breed that exotic stallion to straight Egyptian mares. Judy and I are proud that Yousef has leased a handful of mares from Arabians Ltd. and our clients. They are some of our finest daughters of Thee Desperado, *Mishaal HP, and Pimlico RCA. The primary reason for us to have 13 ▪ ZT MAGNANIMUS ▪ WORLD

I remember it like it was today, when Willy Oppen of Zichy-Thyssen Arabians invited me to see a surprising and astonishing newborn foal. I was shocked by this exquisite and refined foal, later named ZT Magnanimus. He grew even more and more leggy and refined. n conclusion, I wanted to share a personal moment with you. Recently, while I was visiting

Magnanimus, he was busy nuzzling my fingers while I stroked his beautiful neck. He was so gentle and sweet. I felt his muscles tense as he raised his head to call a mare that was passing in the distance. His forelock blew delicately away to reveal the intensity of his enormous, beautiful eyes. This look was familiar in my thoughts as I’d seen it before. As he called to the mare, I could see his every vein, the curves of his face, and the refinement of his skin. In this moment I thought to myself, How do we create immortality of such an exquisite creature? Then I remembered that familiar look … it was what I had seen in his foals.
