MT HENRY PENINSULA CONSERVATION GROUP NEWSLETTER 2024 PLANTING SEASON The Mt Henry Peninsula Conservation Group & Aquinas College recently received over 200 donated Tubestock from the City of South Perth for the 2024 Planting Season. Donated Species include: Bossiaea eriocarpa; also known as the Common Brown Pea Allocasuarina fraseriana; also known as Sheoak Jacksonia furcellata also known as Grey Stinkwood Scholtzia involucrata; also known as the Spiked Scholtzia Melaleuca seriata; also known as Melaleuca These species were selected by the dedicated Nursery Team at the City of South Perth as they are existing natives within the peninsula and will complement the species we received last year. Tubestock refers to young plants grown in seedling pots and is the preferred way of planting when compared to seeds. Tubestock typically have higher survival rates due to them overcoming the most vulnerable stage of their life cycle, which is the germination and the early seedling phase. The welldeveloped root system enables tube stock to compete more effectively with weeds for water, nutrients, and sunlight. We thank the Team at the City of South Perth for their ongoing support and look forwards to seeing what is on offer next year.
