SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Residents of Sandy Springs will soon be charting the vision they have for their city over the next 10 to 20 years with an update to its comprehensive plan. The mayor and City Council at its April 21 meeting officially kicked off the start to update its comprehensive plan for the 2027-2047 planning horizon. The comprehensive plan, known as Next Ten, is the city’s chief policy document that regulates everything from land use, development and capital improvements. The comprehensive plan update will include a review of the city’s recreation and parks master plan to decide what facilities and programming to invest in. The plans will guide future growth, development and sustainability through community vision and data-driven analysis, Planning & Zoning Manager Michele McIntosh-Ross said. “This process will include multiple points of [public] engagement through 2026 and into 2027 with an adoption set for [June] of 2027,” she said.

Allure of 3D printing potential turns teen into entrepreneur By DYANA BAGBY dyana@appenmedia.com SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Easton Almond, an eighth grader at Mount Vernon School, has built a small business selling 3D-printed mahjong boards. And he says he is just getting started. Easton, 14, started his mahjong board business roughly six weeks ago after his mother asked him to print a board for her game nights.
Before mahjong boards became a business, Easton said he was obsessed with remote-controlled cars. He said spending an entire day building a vehicle, then driving it for hours over rocks and hills brought him incredible satisfaction. After burning out a motor by driving a car into a creek with a neighbor, he taught himself to source a replacement motor from the AliExpress website and reinstall it himself. “It’s just fascinating, just the sheer
