Honor spanning generations Milton ceremony pays tribute to 9/11 horrors, heroes By ANNABELLE REITER annabelle@appenmedia.com MILTON, Ga — Milton first responders, students and community members gathered at Milton High School Sept. 11 for a ceremony honoring the victims and survivors of the 2001 terrorist attacks.

This is the 18th year the ceremony has been held. Each year, four students deliver a speech about one of the 2,977 victims of the Sept. 11 attacks and add four pictures to their corresponding alphabetically sorted flag on the front lawn of the school. This year, keynote speaker and

Alpharetta resident Beth Zampieri told about her third day at a new job on the 51st floor of the first tower and overcoming the trauma. Zampieri told her story of pushing her experience down after moving to Georgia, accustomed to the anniversary in New York where everyone knew someone personally affected.
