Custodial staffs recognized for district’s cleanest schools FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Two North Fulton schools were awarded the Jerry Coker Award for Custodial Excellence in May for scoring the highest on cleanliness across the district. Across two inspections, Crabapple Middle School in Roswell scored the highest average with a custodial team led by Ned Zahirovic. The school’s principal, Stephanie Haga, said she is grateful for their commitment and pride the custodial staff brings to Crabapple Middle. "We are proud to be recognized as the cleanest school in the district,” Haga said. “This honor reflects the dedication and hard work of our incredible custodial team. They go above and beyond each day to create a safe, healthy and welcoming environment for our students and staff.” Sal Sapina and the custodial staff at Hembree Springs Elementary School, also in Roswell, scored second. Global Impact Academy in Fairburn placed third.

MILTON, Ga. — The Milton City Council approved a contract with Blount Construction May 18 to complete the city’s annual road resurfacing and reconstruction with a budget of nearly $3.4 million. It was the largest contract included on the council meeting’s consent agenda, which included multiple transportation contracts. Planned improvements include roads in four subdivisions: Sable Pointe North, Henderson

Heights, South Holcombe Farms and Waterside. Roadway improvements include Hopewell Road between the roundabouts at Birmingham Road and Hamby Road; on Deerfield Parkway between Ga. 9 and Webb Road; and on Thompson Road near the Hopewell Road roundabout. Funding will come from the city’s capital fund, the Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant and Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) II.
