Milton community fun run raises $12,000 for charities By HANNAH YAHNE hannah@appenmedia.com MILTON, Ga. — Around 150 participants took off into the woods in early morning June 27 to conquer Milton High School’s cross country course in a charity run organized by the school’s team captains. The first-ever fundraiser hosted by the Milton High School Cross Country Team raised more than $12,000 for two local nonprofits: the Pedal Forward Foundation and Stella Love Non-Profit. It was a true community event. Parents cheered on their runners as they raced friends down the final stretch, dogs mingled in cute costumes, and students from surrounding schools signed up to support. Jonathan Thai, a Milton Cross Country team captain and executive director of the Pedal Forward Foundation, said the turnout exceeded anything he could have imagined. “I’m just so glad that everyone has come out to support these nonprofits today,” Thai said. “It’s really great that we were able to put this on together and get the community together.”

New Ga. 400 interchange GDOT has opened a new exit, Exit 11A, at McGinnis Ferry Road near Milton’s Deerfield area. The new interchange cost $66 million and took five years to build. The exit sits between the Windward Parkway and McFarland Parkway exits, and gives drivers another way on and off GA-400 without using Windward Parkway. The city says it’s watching how traffic shifts on Bethany Bend and nearby streets now that the exit is open, and may adjust signal timing if needed. Morris Road widening Morris Road is being widened from the roundabout at Webb Road and Deerfield Avenue east to where it meets the McGinnis Ferry Road widening project. The project is paid for through Fulton County’s TSPLOST, a local sales tax voters approved in 2016 that was expected to bring about $32 million to Milton for road projects. Morris Road was one of the priority projects funded through the tax. The city of Milton hired Wilson Construction Management for the project in September 2024. As of the city’s July 1, 2026 update, crews have shifted traffic lanes near Bethany Bend, the new walking and biking path is about 80 percent complete, and the Webb Road roundabout is being rebuilt with decorative concrete.
