Dogs get their due Canine statues honor fire station staple By JON WILCOX jon@appenmedia.com JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Every Johns Creek fire station ought to have a dog. That goal was put into action May 21 by members of the Bellmere Garden Club, Johns Creek Beautification and the Johns Creek Public Safety Foundation. Members of the organizations dedicated the three canine statues at the entrance of Fire Station 63, 9880 Brumbelow Road. Mina Dyson, Bellmere president and Beautification board member, said with sufficient funding additional dog statues could be installed at the city’s three other fire stations.

Fulton County mental health fair promotes array of free services By JON WILCOX jon@appenmedia.com JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Fulton County mental health workers want residents to know help is available. “The first part is to break away from the shame, and just letting them know that they're not alone in their journey,” said Brittany Johnson, clinical program coordinator. Johnson and other county staff conducted a mental health fair at the Ocee Branch public library May 20. It was one of three held in May, Mental Health Awareness Month. The fair featured a number of tables representing a variety of county resources from the Behavioral Health Crisis Center to Intellectual Developmental Disability Service Centers to opioid addiction services.
